Privacy policy

Last updated: 29 October 2026. The short version: Kerbside collects nothing, because it has nowhere to send it.

In one sentence. Kerbside has no user accounts and no servers. Everything you type into it — your pupils, your lessons, your takings — is written to your own phone and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.

Who we are

Kerbside is published by [REGISTERED NAME AND ADDRESS]. For anything concerning this policy, email info@kerbsidebooking.co.uk.

What the app collects

Nothing. Kerbside contains no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no crash reporting and no tracking of any kind. It makes no network requests in normal use.

What you put into it

You will enter information about your pupils — names, telephone numbers, pick-up addresses, driving licence numbers, test dates, progress notes and payment records. Under UK GDPR you are the data controller for that information. Kerbside is the notebook; what you write in it is yours and your responsibility.

That information is stored in the app’s own storage area on your device. It is included in whatever device backup you use — Apple iCloud or Google One — under those companies’ own terms. We have no access to it at any point, and no technical means of obtaining it.

Your own obligations

Because you hold personal data about other people, a few things are worth knowing:

  • Tell your pupils what you keep and why. A line in your terms of business normally covers it.
  • Keep the phone locked with a passcode or biometric. That is the real security boundary.
  • If a pupil asks you to delete their details, delete them in the app — and remember older backup files may still contain them.
  • Most sole-trader instructors do not need to register with the ICO, but you can check in a few minutes using the ICO self-assessment.

Purchases

The one-off unlock is processed entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your name, card details or billing address — only an anonymous confirmation from the store that a purchase exists. Their privacy policies cover that transaction.

Backup files you create

If you export a backup, that file contains your pupils’ personal data in readable form. Wherever you choose to put it — email, cloud drive, a laptop — it is covered by that service’s terms and by your own care. Treat it the way you would treat a paper diary full of the same details.

Children

Kerbside is a tool for professional instructors and is not directed at children. Pupils are frequently seventeen or eighteen, and the usual care applies to holding their details.

Support emails

If you email us, we hold that email in order to reply, and for as long as it is useful to keep the thread. We do not add you to anything and we do not pass it on. Please do not send us a backup file unless we have asked for one to diagnose a fault, and we will delete it once the problem is fixed.

Your rights

UK GDPR gives you rights of access, correction, erasure and portability over data held about you. As we hold none, there is nothing to request — but if you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, say so and it will be.

Changes

Any change to this policy will appear on this page with a new date. If a future version of Kerbside ever introduced an optional service that needed data to leave your phone, it would be opt-in, explained plainly, and never switched on behind your back.

Terms of use

Kerbside is provided as it is, for use in your own business. It is a record-keeping tool, not an accountant and not a legal adviser — the figures it shows are only as good as what you put in, and you remain responsible for your own tax return and your own diary.

Keep your own backups. We cannot recover a diary from a lost, broken or wiped phone, because we never had a copy.

Kerbside is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the DVSA. References to the DVSA syllabus are for the purpose of recording lesson progress against published national standards.
